FAQ
-
What is an S-Ribbed sectional door?
S-Ribbed describes the panel surface profile. It is a sectional door (lifts vertically on overhead tracks, made of multiple insulated panels stacked together) where each panel has narrow horizontal ribs running across the face. Compared to a Smooth panel it adds visual texture; compared to L-Ribbed it has finer, narrower lines.
-
How does a sectional door operate?
The door is made of insulated panels hinged together. When you open it, the panels travel up the side tracks and roll back along the ceiling, parallel to the floor. This saves all of the driveway space in front of the garage (unlike up and over doors which swing outward).
-
Can I add remote control later?
Yes. You can upgrade to either the hardwired or wireless safety edge kit at any point. Most customers add it at order time so the door is automated from day one.
-
What is the difference between the hardwired and wireless safety edge kits?
Both detect obstructions and auto reverse the door. The hardwired kit runs a cable from the safety edge to the receiver box. The wireless kit uses a battery powered transmitter on the bottom rail to talk to the receiver, so there is no trailing cable; it also includes a courtesy light on the receiver box. The wireless kit is £45 more than the hardwired kit.
-
Do I need a safety edge for remote operation?
Yes. To be fully automatic and remote controlled in line with the machinery directive, the door needs a safety edge. That is why the safety edge is bundled into both upgrade kits.
-
What sizes can I order?
The S-Ribbed sectional door is made to measure between 1875 mm and 5000 mm wide and between 1875 mm and 3000 mm tall. Larger sizes can sometimes be quoted on request.
